Jordan Times - Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Monday inaugurated “Parliamentary Elections: A Community Responsibility”, an election promotion campaign organised by the Ministry of Political Development in a bid to increase participation in the November 20 elections.

The campaign conducted its first workshop on “political parties and elections”, with two other workshops slated for October 29 and November 5, which will focus on the role of civic institutions and young people in elections.

The Higher Council for Youth began a national programme to increase youth participation in the elections. The programme, implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Fund for Women, targets 20-30 year olds, especially members of youth centres and student clubs in universities. Some 90 participants from across the Kingdom’s 12 governorates will be introduced to gender issues, election participation and negotiating skills.
