Majlis poll panel reviews primary list of candidates
Aug 21, 2007

Times of Oman, Muscat — The eighth meeting of the Majlis Al Shura election main committee was held yesterday at the Ministry of Interior.

The meeting, which was presided over by Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and attended by members of the committee, discussed a number of topics listed on the agenda like reviewing the primary lists of candidates which are expected to be unveiled in the first week of September 2007.

It also reviewed the voting procedure at the poll centres in Oman and the Sultanate’s selected embassies abroad.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Interior has set 26th August as the last date for candidates to withdraw from Majlis Al Shura election this year.

The committee members were satisfied with the turn out by voters to register their names, which is at least 30 per cent more compared to last election.
