Morocco: the Consensus of the Government on the draft electoral law is criticized by the opposition

Arab Reform Initiative - Opposition parties criticized the draft electoral law in Morocco which should be in force for the 2007 elections.

Opposition forces from all trends fear that the draft law in its current formulation might enhance exclusion of large sections of political society. They are calling for a nationwide consultation, a central role for the Judiciary in monitoring the electoral process, as well as for the right to vote for Moroccans living abroad.
