Kuwaiti MPs Vote Key Election Reform Bill
Jul 20, 2006
Arab Reform Initiative - On Monday 17 July, Kuwait’s parliament passed a government-sponsored law that reduces the number of districts from 25 to 5.
This reform bill was a key demand of the opposition during last month’s elections and the subject of the political crisis that had led to the dissolution (in May) of the Parliament and to the organization of early elections. This law will be implemented in the next general elections in 2010.
