About KAS Regional Program Near East / Mediterranean
Committed to supporting democracy, freedom and justice, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) has been active in Jordan and the Maghreb-Mashreq Region for more than 25 years. As one of the largest political foundations in Germany, the work of KAS Amman Regional Office in the field of social and economic politics aims at contributing to stronger integration and networking between Germany and the countries of the MENA Region on the one hand, and promoting Euro-Mediterranean dialogue on the other. Dedicated to the legacy of the first German Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967), the foundation works together with partners on a national and regional level in order to strengthen
Democracy and the Rule of Law
Development of a free and social economical system and order
Euro-Mediterranean dialogue and the Peace Process in the Near East
Dialogue of Cultures and Religions.
Political, social and economic developments have long stopped being confined to national borders but are per se trans-national, regional and global: Therefore, the Amman Regional Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, together with its partners, has given priority to observe, analyze and promote regional und national development cooperation. By highlighting and publishing national projects and best practices that could serve as models for the whole region, we would like to encourage more exchange on a regional basis. The key motto: Thinking globally and acting locally. This is done in the framework of conferences, workshops, hearings, research studies, and information programs in Germany and the MENA Region, as well as granting scholarships to specially gifted students.
KAS operates according to the principle of partnership, in line with our ethical beliefs and political guidelines: Innovative reforms and new ideas can only take sustainable roots if they are carried on and shaped by social decision-makers and the people concerned. Therefore: the partners take centre stage. Together with our partners, programs are designed, planned, conducted and evaluated. Partners in the Near and Middle East and North Africa are ministries, parliaments, universities, think tanks, NGOs, employers associations, media and political parties.
